Terms of Service — ManoloMode
Last updated: 2026-10-03
These terms govern your use of the ManoloMode Android app. By installing or using it, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
1. Who we are
ManoloMode is an independent app with no company behind it. You can reach us at manolomode.app@gmail.com, and we answer there.
2. What the app does
ManoloMode blocks the apps you choose until you complete a physical exercise, which it counts using your phone's own motion sensors. It is a self-discipline tool. It is not a security product, a parental control, or a device-management system, and it does not claim to be unbypassable: you can always uninstall it, force-stop it, or revoke its permissions. If you need enforcement that cannot be undone by the person using the phone, this is the wrong tool.
3. Health and physical exercise — read this one
ManoloMode is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. It is not a personal trainer, a physiotherapist or a doctor, and nothing in it is a diagnosis, a treatment or a prescription.
- You exercise at your own risk. The exercises are designed for people in ordinary good health.
- Talk to a doctor before you start if you have any heart, respiratory, joint, back or blood pressure condition, if you are pregnant, if you are recovering from an injury or surgery, or if you have been inactive for a long time.
- Stop immediately if you feel chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath beyond normal exertion, or pain in a joint. The app will keep asking; your body is the one that decides.
- The app's difficulty climbs with use. You choose the intensity, and you can lower it or change profile at any time. Nothing in the app requires you to continue an exercise that hurts.
- The rep counting is done by consumer-grade phone sensors and is approximate. It is a game mechanic, not a measurement instrument.
4. Intellectual property and licence
ManoloMode — its code, its design, its name and the character of Manolo — belongs to its author. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app on devices you control, for your own personal and non-commercial use. Nothing here sells or assigns the app to you.
You agree not to copy, redistribute, rent or sell the app, not to remove or alter its notices, and not to circumvent the subscription system or suppress the advertising of the free profile.
Where the law gives you a right, this clause does not take it away. European law on the legal protection of computer programs lets you observe and study how the app works, and, for the specific purpose of interoperability, decompile it under the conditions the law sets. Those rights stand, and nothing in this section restricts them.
5. Profiles, subscription and payment
ManoloMode offers a free profile (CADET) and paid profiles. CADET shows one advertisement when you spend a joker; the paid profiles show no advertisements.
- The subscription is 3.99 € per month or 29.99 € per year. Google Play shows you the final price in your own currency, including any taxes, before you confirm. That price is the one that applies.
- All payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by Google Play, not by us. We never see or store your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You cancel in the Google Play Store, under Payments and subscriptions; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy and the consumer rights of your country. If you believe something was charged wrongly, write to us and we will help, but the refund itself is processed by Google.
- Right of withdrawal. In the European Union you have a 14-day right of withdrawal on distance purchases. For digital content and services that start immediately, that right ends once supply has begun with your prior express consent and your acknowledgement that you are giving it up — and that consent is asked for by Google Play at the moment of purchase, not on this page. Because the purchase, the renewal and any refund run through Google Play, that is also where a withdrawal is requested. We will help you with it; we cannot process it for you.
- Advertising. The free profile shows one third-party advertisement when you spend a joker, served by Google AdMob. We do not choose those advertisements, we do not control what they say, and we do not endorse what they sell. Any dealing with an advertiser is between you and them. What AdMob receives is described in the Privacy Policy.
- When a subscription ends, the app returns to the free CADET profile. Your progress, your medals and your statistics stay on your device and are not deleted; they are waiting there if you subscribe again.
- Prices can change. If they do, Google Play notifies you before the change affects you, and you can cancel.
6. Your data
ManoloMode has no accounts and no server. Everything it knows about you stays on your device. The details are in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
7. Age
You must be 16 or older to use ManoloMode.
8. Permissions, and how blocking can fail
The app needs Android permissions to do its job, and it tells you when one is missing. It uses usage access to know which app is in front, display over other apps to put the exercise in front of it, physical activity to count steps, and notifications to show that it is running — and to tell you when it is not. It does not use Android's accessibility service.
Blocking can stop working, and these are the real reasons it does:
- You revoke one of those permissions.
- Android removes permissions from apps you have not opened for months.
- Your phone manufacturer's battery management kills background services. This is outside Android's own battery settings and the app cannot see it.
- You force-stop the app yourself.
The app detects these situations and says so, but it cannot prevent them. Granting the permissions, keeping them granted and keeping the app exempt from battery restrictions is on your side of the line.
9. What we do not promise
The app is provided as it is. We do our best to make it work, but we do not promise that it will be free of errors, that it will block every app in every situation, or that it will be available without interruption.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage arising from the use of the app, including lost time or lost productivity. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be limited — and nothing in them takes away the rights the consumer law of your country gives you, including your right to a product that works as described.
10. Suspension and termination
You can stop using ManoloMode whenever you want by uninstalling it. If you have a subscription, you cancel it in Google Play.
We may suspend or end your licence if you breach these terms — in particular if you circumvent the payment system or tamper with the app. If we end a paid subscription for that reason, the part of the period you have paid for and not used is refunded through Google Play, and we tell you the reason.
11. Changes, and if part of these terms fails
If these terms change, the new version is published at this address with a new date. If a change is significant and affects a paid subscription, you will be told through the app or through Google Play before it applies to you.
If a court finds any part of these terms invalid or unenforceable, that part is removed and the rest stays in force.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you may bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence.
Before going to court, write to us: most things are settled by email. If you are a consumer, you may also turn to the out-of-court consumer dispute resolution bodies available where you live.
